Mermaid at Tuacahn- The Eels

Hey, everyone!

So, I just got back from a trip to Disneyland! I had a lot of fun but the best part of the trip was going to see "Disney's The Little Mermaid" presented at the Tuacahn Amphitheater in Ivins, Utah! The show was "beyond my wildest dreams!" I can't even decribe how amazing it was! The cast was great, the sets were great, the costumes were great, and the effects are amazing! I mean, a water curtain AND a flooded stage...how awesome is that!?!

Tuacahn is the first regional theater to perform the broadway version of "Mermaid," for good reason. They were also the first to perform Disney's "Tarzan" musical, which was a huge hit. (I never saw that one...) Being an outdoor theater they are able to have amazing pyrotechnic and water effects that would be impossible indoors.

I had never seen the broadway version of "The Little Mermaid" but I loved the original cast recording. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman were an outstanding team, and Glenn Slater's new lyrics are also great.

I would highly recommend this show! If you can go...DO IT!

In honor of the show I'm going to (try) do a series of pictures of some of the cast from the show in their fabulous costumes! Starting with Ursula's two electric eel henhmen, Flotsam and Jetsam, played by Matt Densky and Joey Tierno. These two stole the show with their hypnotic vocals and witty remarks!
