Poseidon, God of the Sea by Cor104 Poseidon, God of the Sea by Cor104
Well, this is quite different from my usual! ;) I hope you all still like it!

I recently purchased a book featuring the art of Alfonse Mucha, whom I have loved for years! His art is so elegant and stylish! He draws the most GORGEOUS hands, they are very "princess-y!" ;) While adoring his art I realized that he almost never drew males, most of his work features women with long hair and flowy gowns. So I decided to take a crack at a Mucha style and practice drawing males.

Artwork c) Cory Jensen

Inspired by the art of Alfonse Mucha

I like the idea of greek Gods to be pictured a little more calm and sweet natured, which was never the way they were described. well done Poseidon looks amazing,I bet though you already know that :)

Cory I love this! Very beautiful while still staying masculine. I think you honor him will (seeing as he is in my top five art idols list ;) ) Bah! I'm so jealous, though! I want to see this book of yours!

I always pictured Poseidon as a grumpy old merman with a really long beard. :giggle:

Understandable. That is how he is always pictured, I had a little fun with it! :) Here we have hot young Poseidon! ha ha

You know, I never pictured Poseidon looking quite so... pretty, I guess you could call it. I always figured he'd look a bit like a sea captain. I'd always picture him and his brothers as looking as different as possible.

Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing but I thought a younger more "pretty" Poseidon would fit the style more. think of it as a "young" Poseidon perhaps?

That works.

I imagine that Zeus and Poseidon would pretty much look "Olympian" their entire lives, while Hades would have looked, even as a young god, as pale and thin as a corpse. Of course, he'd grow up to be the nicest of the three in the end.
